Parker started a mini wrestling camp this week. He has 7 practices and then a tournament. He has been enjoying it a lot. He is learning the moves and comes home to practice them on his sister. She is a champ and just stands there for him. You can see that he is a little behind his age group. Im amazed by the other kids though. They are around the same age as Parker and are so good at helping him do it the right way. His partner yesterday would tell Parker where to place his hands or what to do with his body to get a better take down. His partner the day before would go and get one of the high school wrestlers to come over and help Parker get it just right. The coaches are great but the other kids are AMAZING at taking the time to help him! Parker says he is enjoying it and I am hoping he will want to sign up for the rest of the season.
There is over 50 kids in this camp so it is a mad house in the mat room. I havent gotten any picts but will post some when he has his tournament next Thursday.

ReplyDeletei think def takes a certain kind of kid to wrestle. kobe did it for 2 years and he was not the type :)
He needs to work on two things. Making the moves instead of backing up and tryin to block take down after take down. And when he practices a move I notice the other kids hold the kid down for a few seconds and Parker will do the move and get up right away. If he can be a little more aggressive I think he will do awesome.
