Beating the Odds
I was talking with a friend the other day about our life stories. The conversation got me thinking about my marriage. Bryan and I are a miracle based on the statistics. Here are just a few things for us.
High School Sweethearts: There is only a 54 percent chance of remaining married for 10yrs.
Lived together before Marriage: There is a 50-80 percent higher divorce rate than those who dont.
Teen Pregnancy: Only 30 percent of teen mothers are still married by the time they're 40. And less than 8 percent marry their baby's father.
Military: Divorce rate is 3.7 percent. That means around 30,000 military couples got divorced last year. It also increases with each deployment. We went through 2 deployments.
CRNA school: I found lots of crazy numbers for this. Dont really know which ones are based on facts but lets just say the numbers were pretty high.
We may be reading this and wondering well how did your marriage beat the odds. One simple answer. God. If He is forever in the middle of your marriage you can make it through anything. It wasnt always easy. It wasnt always fun. We have had lots of ups and lots of downs. I have wanted to quit many times. Im sure Bry has felt the same way but we have always tried to put God and His word in the middle of our marriage. It gives you Hope, Love, Peace, Grace, Forgiveness, Strengh, and Joy. Dont ever give up on your marriage. Dont ever become a statistic. Bring God to the center and hold on tight.
