Our pastor spoke about tolerance yesterday. Something I have come to realize God is speaking to me about a lot lately. How often do I compromise my relationship with Christ so I can be tolerant to others? I know this is a subject most people will have really strong opinions on. I think it is something Christians struggle with in our society. Just how tolerant do we have to be so someone feels like we are accepting them. That we are not judging them but loving them. How did we mix these two things up so much. One thing I really took from the sermon yesterday was this:
The old definition of tolerance was: different opinions with a committment to find truth
The new definition of tolerance is: different opinions with each having equal value.
I know truth. The bible is truth. I want to stand firm on that no matter what I may lose or what I may look like to this society.
May your roots go down into the soil of God's marvelous love. And may you have the power to understand, as all God's people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love really is!
